Tag One Motorsports Concludes Markham Weekend with Five Podiums!

Markham, Ontario, August 17, 2026 — Tag One Motorsports concludes its weekend in Markham on a particularly positive note, earning five podium finishes across the two races, including three class victories. Despite a challenging start to the weekend that left the drivers without a full day of track time, the team quickly adapted to the Markham street circuit and delivered strong performances throughout the weekend.

With on-track activities starting one day later than scheduled, Tag One Motorsports drivers were unable to take part in Friday's practice and qualifying sessions. On Saturday, they finally took to the track for a combined practice and qualifying session, allowing them to discover the Markham circuit under competitive conditions ahead of the two races.

Race 1: Two Podiums to Open the Weekend

‍

Despite the very limited preparation time, the team quickly found its footing. In Race 1, Antoine Sénéchal secured second place in the Pro class, while Cédric Ohayon claimed third place in the Masters class.

‍

For Antoine Sénéchal, the result was a reward for the work put in by the team following the difficulties encountered at the beginning of the weekend.

‍

“I'm very happy with Race 1 this morning. We came a long way from yesterday, when we had an issue with the car. The engineers, the crew chief and, above all, the mechanics did a great job repairing the car and getting it back into top shape for Race 1 this morning.”

‍

Despite the limited track time leading up to the race, Sénéchal quickly found his rhythm and was able to battle at the front throughout the event.

‍

“We managed to get a podium in Race 1. We were lucky, but the car was very competitive. We were able to stay with the top three throughout the race and, at the end, we were very opportunistic and managed to secure the podium.”

‍

The young Tag One Motorsports driver also enjoyed the challenge presented by the Markham circuit.

‍

“The track is absolutely incredible, I love it. It's very technical, but it also requires you to build confidence. It's a bit of both. I'm really enjoying my weekend so far.”

Race 2: Three Class Victories

‍

Race 2 allowed Tag One Motorsports to continue its momentum and confirm the strong performance demonstrated in the opening race. Alex Tagliani secured a victory in his class, as did Cédric Ohayon in Masters, while Antoine Sénéchal once again finished on the Pro podium, this time in third place.

‍

For Tagliani, these results were first and foremost the result of the team's collective effort.

‍

“It's a great way to finish the weekend, especially for the team. The car was so badly damaged after Race 1. The team really worked hard. Rebuilding a car is one thing, but rebuilding it the right way so that it's just as fast as it was before is truly fantastic. It's a team victory. Congratulations to everyone involved in putting the car back together. I tip my hat to everyone who was involved.”

The decisions made by the team throughout the day also allowed Tagliani to regain a competitive car despite the changing track conditions.

‍

“We made the right decisions. There was the IndyCar race, there was rubber on the track that wasn't ours, and we lost a lot of time in terms of lap times. The track was very slippery, but the decisions they made while repairing the car turned out to be the right ones, and the car was very fast. It's a great way to finish the weekend.”

For Cédric Ohayon, Race 2 capped off a weekend of learning on a new circuit in a particularly condensed schedule. With a full day of track time lost, the drivers had to maximize every available session to quickly find their bearings and extract the most from their cars.

“It was really a great weekend, learning a new track and trying to maximize performance over a short weekend. They took a day away from us, so we only had two days, but the last race ended well.”

‍

Ohayon also capitalized on a mistake by the driver ahead of him to gain a position and maintain his advantage through to the finish.

‍

“There wasn't much grip, but I was able to capitalize on a mistake by the driver ahead of me. After that, I had enough pace to pull away and leave him behind. We managed the race and tried to bring the car home in one piece.”

A Strong Result in Markham

‍

With five podium finishes across the two races, including three class victories, Tag One Motorsports leaves Markham with an impressive haul. In a shortened weekend marked by a lost day of track time and challenging track conditions, the team demonstrated its adaptability and the strength of its collective effort, both on track and in the paddock.

Tag One Motorsports now turns its attention to the next round of the EMZONE Radical Cup Canada presented by Michelin, with the goal of carrying this momentum forward and continuing to build on its podium results throughout the season.

Following two consecutive race weekends, the team will now have a few weeks to train on the A1 racing simulators before returning to the track at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
